Hello all!

I picked up a '91 Suburban on the cheap back in May. Runs really strong with a fresh trans; just a solid old Burb - bone stock, ugly, MIA white paint (I think clear coat was optional back in the day), towed behind an RV. I am planning a mild build. Intent is to create a highway-camping-dirt bike recovery rig that will function as base camp for my two-wheel excursions (base camp is Eureka Colorado, between Silverton and Animas Forks). I've been doing parts collection all summer and now she is in the paint shop.

I just purchased a Tuff Country 4" EZ Ride kit for an 88-91 Sub with 56" rear springs and quad shocks. The kit arrived and I was looking at the spring labels and both the rear and front springs said 73-87 Chevy. It also came with a 73-87 Dana 44 steering arm. The bolt kit was for a 88-91. The shocks were SX8000 23" and the rear springs were 56" as ordered.

I am going to call SD Truck Springs tomorrow to inquire, but does anyone here know if this is normal? Shouldn't I be seeing 88-91 on these parts?

Suburbans and blazers carried over into '91 but the year ranges you see labeled on most stuff are referring to trucks.

You have the right parts.

The same springs work from 73-91 (assuming the rear spring length is correct). The reason for the different year bolt kit is the bolt size changed in '88.

Obviously, I am new to the website (and to straight axle Chevys). My DDs are an older LS430 and the wife's X5; I really am enjoying my Suburban from a perspective of simplicity as I actually get to do "stuff" to it at a lower than reasonable cost. I love fabrication and application so this old girl is the perfect platform for my wrenching inclinations.

The link you sent me is an intriguing build. I had already found that one but I have only made my way about 1/4 through it from the beginning.

Thanks and I look forward to being part of the forum!

I forgot to say Hi and welcome!

pardon my bad manners....:doah:

Burbs have a healthy following here...:waytogo:

btw, we love pics here...

*Clears throat*

Point taken... I will start a new thread with what I have. She is in the paint shop right now. Only two before pics. Plenty of build pics after paint, I promise. I will be out of the country on business for a week or so; hopefully some good pics by Christmas.
