tcase problems?????

when im doin about 45mph, and i let off the gas then get back on it i hear a like grinding noize, and when i gently let offuntil about when it starts to make the noize then it goes away after i start slowin down but somtimes it will stay there. i try wiggling my drive shaft thinkin its the u joint but it feels tight. im goin to look at it tomarrow. but has anybody heard/felt this noize then had the tcase take a dump on them (np205) i really hope its not the case.

sounds like it might be a bearing in your rear end
 
205's can be noisy, especially if there is some driveline vibration. I agree with those guys, though, check the pinion bearings and take the caps off the u-joints and inspect them.
 
i just had the gears put in with a master install kit about a year and half ago. but the gears were used. and the rear end is welded like the article says, welds in spyder gr teeth
 
I had the same kinda prob i rebuilt both diffs still was there ended up being my pinion angle was way off and the wiped out the input bearing on my t case.
 
ouch, way off what way, like too far up or down. mines pretty far up. it sounds like its the tcase too. :(
what kind of tcase u got, i got a 205
 
i just got under there and tried movin the rear output yoke and i had a firm grip and tried pretty hard and it only had about a hair of play in it. is this normal???
 
what kind of springs whre u runnin
i thought it would mess up the rear output b4 it would the input?

out put was hammered to i think it was also a combo of my friend droping the t case 2 inches that screwed up stuff to
 
is the rear output shaft suppose to be solid and not have any play no matter how hard i try to wiggle it?? mine has about a hair or 2 of play in it.
 
ive noticed that it only really happens when i slowly let off the gas. could it be just the drivetrain movin with the motor??
 
The pinion should not have any play in it. The t-case out put can have a few thousanths play in it. I have rebuilt my t-case, and rebuilt the rear end when I swapped to 1-tons. The noise has stayed there. I replaced the drive sleeve (between the 465 and 205) because it was very worn and causing the seal between the tranny/t-case to leak. When I rebuilt the t-case, I tacked the input and output bearings with a punch because they were spinning in their bores (very common for 205's) and I heard this would fix the problem. I have also replaced the engine and transmission mounts. None of this has made any impact on fixing the same noise coming from my 205. My understanding is that it is from a slight driveline vibration, and that going to a CV rear driveshaft would fix it. FYI, my truck did this even when it was stock.
 
the tcase bushings are brand new, the motor mounts are brand new. so i should i worry about it destroying my case??
 
I don't think I am really hurting my case. The noise you are hearing (IMHO) is the gears not meshing close enough, and when you are giving it throttle, the gears are touching. When you are off the gas, they are allowed to kinda bounce off of each other, making the noise you hear. On mine, I kinda think that 200,000 miles of gear wear has made the gear contact a little loose and noisy.
