I have a 81 sub all torn apart right now (took the body off) and it is sitting for the winter so I am now left with my thoughts and I have a question. I currently have a 350/th350/208 and I would like to switch the 208 to a 205, what would I need to do this other than the adapter and crossmember if I keep the th350? Also should I rebuild the th350 or is a th400 so much better that I should swap it also because if I should then I am just going to get a th400/205 setup all at once. Also how big a deal is it to swap the auto with a manuel tranny. And if it matters I will be swaping the 350 with a 383. Plus other info I will be running a 14ff/d60, only the rear locked, 35" tires. And will never do rocks. Oh yeah I don't know what the hell I am doing I have been learning along the way and from this site. Thanks for any input.

1st q probably gonna need new dive shafts
2nd q Keep the th350 itll stand up and if you got the time and the money rebuild it. maybe a shift kit and a lower first gear?
3rd q if you wanna switch to a manual trannie it can be done but it can be a pain.

hope that ansers your questions,:D this is wat i would do any ways

The only assistance I can offer is that you are upgrading axles, so why not just get the 400 trans with the 205. Other food for thought; I assume you are talking about the sm465 manual trans. It has the granny low, which is very nice for offroading, and its pretty sturdy. BUT, you will need to get the clutch pedal, master cyl. and everything else from maybe a donor vehicle. One other option you didnt ask about, was the 700r4 trans. In stock form its not that great, but when its built, it can handle plenty of abuse, it has a lower first gear than the 350 or 400 trans...and it has an overdrive gear!!

Good luck
