What is a hydro locker?
Guy I got my rear end from said it was for a project he changed direction on.
Has new axle shafts and a hydro locker.
I am ripping my garage apart this weekend to get organized so I can have some work space.
Need to get the rear ready and rebuild my transfer case before I can do anything else. Need to change it to a 32 spline.

I have just about everything I need, minus the r&p sets.

I'll get the 454 ready last. Arr arr arr...:saweet::saweet::saweet::saweet:

My guess is he was confused.:dunno:

That's actually kind of cool....
Kind of like a g80 without the centrifugal weight dealy

The other nice thing about them is, you do not get the "slam" that a detroit style gives. This is much easier on axles and gears. The more wheel speed difference, the more pressure. It equalizes nicely. I don't think you would want it for a serios wheeler, but for a daily with light trail use, it would work great.

Never seen one advertised even before.
Sounds like it'll give you nearly the same traction as a tru-trac, but though a different mechanism.
Now I gotta look one up to see how expensive they are lol

Thanks all.
Guy wasted no time deleting the ad. Should have taken a screen shot.

Guy ran a garage. Figure a go fast rig of some type. Wasn't overly talkative...

Late reply here but the 14-18 rear axles have vibration issues and a common fix is entirely new axle shafts.
Did not know that, but fortunately it has new shafts in it!
More proof God loves drunks and fools!
(I've been the former, and am still the latter!)

Gotta wonder why the new axles and hydro locker in such a new axle
M.a.w. throw a mechanical locker in it. The hydro locker is setting off my spidey sense. It just doesn't "feel" right.
Might be great for a lux-o-barge, but would prefer a proven, heavy duty unit in there.

I want to know just what this "Hydro locker" is?

The thing with the 9.5/9.76 12 bolts is they are basically product improved 14SF's from yore. There aren't many aftermarket parts for the 12 bolts specifically last I checked but apparently you can also use the 14SF stuff in certain combinations with the newer parts to upgrade the 14+ 12 bolts.

The Gov Locks aren't terrible on the 9.5" axles either. They still engage wonky but they are much beefier than the Grenade-Locks of the old days in puny 8.5" 10 bolts.

I've been searching for info.
Best I understand is one axle has the inner rotor on it's end, the other has the outer.

At the same speed they both turn equally.
When differentiation is needed, one turns faster than the other.

The oil does not compress, causing lock up between the 2.

When I go to regear it I will of course take lots of pics
