Technical Library forum?

I like the idea of breaking it down by category. That way, if you are working on a certain aspect, you can start there first. Plus, the "Tech Gods" can Pick which area to look at most to capitalize on their knowledge. I think that it should be open to all registered CK5 participants, because if we can provide a good technical base, that will help gain more users & hopefully more paying members. Just my $.02.

Plus, I want to see the article on how to fit 17 people in a K5.

As far as members only....posting maybe but for viewing everybody. Membership does have its priveledges but since when have we become our own mutal admiration Soceity? I've been around this board for a while seen lots of folks come and lots go, given advice and gotten much more. We exist to help others with this sport, not to isolate our selves or exclude anyone (unless they're a$$holes) this board has grown because of the brotherhood we all have in owning K5's or just enjoying the fact we're CK5 members of the FASTEST growing off-road site on the face of this here blue orb. I for one would not like to see a censorship take place or have I just read into this wrong?

I like it, need to cut a lot of the garbage out of the 4x forums and move it more toward the general area. Also the tech library would hopefully keep a lot of the repeat questions out, I've been here for two years now and within the last 6 months I"ve seen sooooo many questions asked over and over, if newbies would search they would find there answer half the time... I like it

18. You missed little Jeffy sitting in the cavity behind the driver side headlight /forums/images/icons/smile.gif Just don't leave him in there at night. The sparks off the plug wires scares him.

How about if a guy brings up a topic that might be chozen for the "Tech forum", put it in the main forum first, with a special post-mark up thing on the side so it can be easily picked out from the other posts. Let the moderators "clean it up" and edit it as need be. Then have 'em move it if it's informative. --Just a thought.

I think the point was that ongoing threads would be in the normal area. The, "that was a great description" threads would get moved by members to the specail "topic" areas. Sort of like moderators to share the load. At least that is what I got out of it...

Being a member doesn't mean you know more than everybody else...

Please don't turn this into a "members only" thing. That turns a lot of people off....

maybe a topic of the month? or week? just an idea. then you could go into the axle swap and double install and stuff like that

Steve, in addition to this, can you do a section like this..............www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/? Makes the actual articles directly accessible and is subdivided by type.................

Russ (BadDog) has some good points. I like the Idea of a 4x4 Chit Chat board instead of the non 4x4 forum. It could be a place where we could all hang out together, and post whatever. Then have other forums for specific uses like technical stuff. For me the Non 4x4 forum didn't appeal to me at first because it seemed to me that no one was going to come to CK5 unless they were wanting to talk about wheeling. I have since found out that it's not that bad, BUT the name is a turn off. A main Chit Chat board for us to hang on and talk about whatever, seems like a good central place to start. I like the idea of having open tech forums that could be used by all for questions and quick answers with the really good stuff moved to a permanent catagorized how to section. This section shouldn't allow just anyone to post but should be controlled by members willing to help keep it under control. In other words... A good post on doing a body lift for example would be moved to the how to section and the responses that include valuable info or pics that the original post left out could be added later, no matter who wrote them. This doesn't exclude anyone but keeps the section from overflowing with garbage. There is likely to be differing opinions on some tech stuff so those that are reasonable should be included. For example if someone asked "What is the best lift?" you could post the reasonable responses and leave out the one that says that the only way to go is my way, and everone else is wrong. I would love to see more information and how to stuff and searching for info is sometimes more of a PITA than asking the same old questions over and over like the "Newbies" usually do. An organized tech forum would ROCK. Newbie asks... someone says go to tech and look you'll find everything you ever wanted to know about it. After they read that if they still have questions they will have more intelligent and informed questions.

A tech section would be great..... It would save a lot of time and broadband.
I was working on a Ranger a while back and I got most of the info i needed from therangerstation.com. Their Tech section has a lot of info.
(Sorry its a ferd site but I just put it up for some ideas. its well layed out and informative.)
