Teflon Tape or Sealant or Nothing - Oil Galley Pipe Plugs

i got mixed feelings about using teflon tape on threaded sbc oil galley plugs...
front & back of block and inside lifter valley, etc...

anybody have problems with teflon tape on sbc pipe threaded oil galley plugs?

seems like it'd be ok on outside of block where only one side is exposed to oil, but it seems like may be an issue where both sides of pipe plug are exposed to oil, since you always end up with a little tape exposed on the allen head side, i'm wondering what kind of mayhem that would cause if any came off.

I may be over thinking it, just can't decide wheather to use teflon tape, silicone, loctite or nothing.

thanks in advance.

I use permatex sealer, I believe that it is form-a-gasket #2. Black, in a small tub with a brush. They may have it in a tube.
Check to confirm that it's non-hardening and approved for oil, whatever you use. If it sets hard, I believe that it could loose a flake after heat cycles which could cause a problem somewhere.
Loctite probably has something that I am unfamiliar with.

i only use tape on plastic... thread sealant of the appropriate nature.. most will work fine for that... but you will find different temp range ones from loctite, permatex, etc.. but you'd be fine with some Super 300, aviation seal, etc in an NPT app.... i generally reserve the high temp fancy stuff for jacketed head bolts, etc...
