I keep telling myself I need a plasma cutter! I want it to build bumpers, make brackets, cut a scrap car up etc.
I have a jet vertical/horizontal band saw HVBS-463, grinder, torches. So tell me stop wanting and just use what I have cause I can build a bumper with what I already have in my garage!

The time you spend cleaning up the plasma cuts is almost a toss up. Unless you do a lot of fabing, itis just another cool tool. But it is a cool tool.

I know and love cool tools! Guy's i work with always borrow my tools and it gets old I buy them and they use them Cheap bastards!

Guess I need to try building bumper first then see if I really need it. rather have another 500 sq ft in my garage or wife truck rolling to push frame in and out!

Nobody borrows my tools. I am very clear and up front. Nobody asks any more. They can pay me to use them on there stuff though.

Can I ask how you do it? I get called a dick when don't loan tools out. I feel like I have made some sacrifices over the years to have the tools I have and think that using my tools to make there money is bs. Yeah they can drive a newer car,eat lunch out etc enjoy good life off me, mean while i drive 97 civic, bring lunch etc I never have a super high tool bill besides box which is paid off this year!!!!! Crazy to know you have over 50k at work not mention what is in garage.

Ask them if you can borrow something that they really cherish. Their car for the weekend to go out of town. Their house to throw a party, etc.... That usually fixes it.

And I was called a few names, but those people are no longer around me. Shows you who your real friends are.

Yes you need a plasma. You probably need a tig welder too, and a plasma table.

But you can get by with none of those

Built my bumper w/o a plasma. Gonna build my rear one w/o also. Although it may have saved me some time.

No bandsaw either... Really want a nice bandsaw.

It's a disease, I have one. NOW I want a good table, after that a cnc control.
Had a 85 mig, currently have a 180. NOW I want a 250 to get it's 60% duty cycle.

I will say that the best power tool for the money has been my porta-bandsaw. I use it instead of the chop saw and plasma on anything I can. I'll eventually get the SWAG table to go with it.
