okay i picked up a van 14ff from my pickandpull yesterday. $86.
i know how to tell from the #'s on the ring what ratio i have but i have never heard of this ratio or i for got how to read the #'s.

it reads 1 GM 464917 12 45 6 80
so you take 45/12=3.9 hu i have never heard of a 3.90 gear ratio. i this right?

Uh , my calculator here on this here windows 98 box at work say 45 divided by 12 is 3.75 :dunno: I tried it like 20 times and it keeps saying 3.75 :k5: :k5:

My calculator shows 3.75 too .

That is a common "G" series ratio .

GM did not change to it or from it . That gear ratio was offered in the Vans and some commercial applications.

The 3.75 ratio is noisier than the 3.73 ratio that was offered in the trucks and passenger versions of the Van. The 3.75 tooth profile is stronger at the sacrifice of gear noise.
