Tellico Outing with dontoe *PICS*

Well, dontoe and I had our Tellico outing today. Took two kids as well, but dontoe, I can't remember now if they were yours are not. Anyway, we ran only on two trails. We ran most of the mild Fain's Ford Road and all I think of the medium Tellico River Trail. Fain's Ford Road was rated as an F1 (stockers can run) trail, but it sure it didn't feel like it. We jounced around pretty good on it. Tellico River was an F3 (Tires, Lift, Winch, Rear Locker all recommended). There was only one time we thought for a moment we'd have to break out the winch cable on Tellico River, but dontoe's driving skills saved the day and the leather work gloves I brought along specifically for helping out in that stayed in the satchel the entire run. Here's some pics:

Much later, we started to come across a door that seemed to look as if it came off an early '88-'98 GM truck.

I was right. I named this tree "Driver Door Tree" right there on the spot!

This is the spot on the Tellico River trail where we thought we were going to need the winch, but somehow, we got through without it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this and look forward to going to Tellico again with somebody!

It was. The only reason why we didn't run a lot of the gnarlier stuff was because I think this may have been the first time out trail-riding for the kids that were with us.

Yeah, I forgot about that, but this was my first time ever at Tellico and the excitement of trying to photograph all the difficult obstacles got to me.

Hey, that's 'uh my truck!

Oh, yea. We had a good time. Noah was great at helping find the best line over a couple of rough areas and navigating the run. Still had snow it the shady places and some slick, cold mud coating all the rocks. Brrrr! My kids, Sarah 14 and Jimmy 13 got to go on their first off-road excursion!!! Woo, hoo!

I now realize what I should have done during the times we were going over some of the milder parts of the trail. I should have snapped some shots of you and the kids! It sure would have made up for some of the more mediocre and at one time downright awful shots that were also on the roll. I carefully looked at all the photos on the roll, and the ones I posted were what I thought were the best ones. The hour I spent at the local Wal-Mart getting them developed also allowed me to get a Christmas gift for somebody too (see 'Christmast Gift for somebody' thread by me).

Awesome stuff! I recognize that door...off an 82 to 85 S10....lmao! What the hell is that doing out there???

Lucky you can still get out like that down there. Most stuff up here is already blocked with the snow.

We did see some banks and downed treelimbs with slight dustings of snow on them too. Left the kids slack-jawed seeing that.

I really like that trail...I think I know that spot

Here I am pulling a stock jeep up it

and heres that watercrossing from the other side.

Now I am so looking forward to january, My club Has a ride up there we call winter madness. This will be my first year to go but hopefully it snows like it did last year.

we lined him up so that when I pulled him he would not slide back down into that root with the drivers side. also you forget that those things dont weigh jack compaired to a k5. gravity is slightly kinder. I on the other hand got a little squirrly and dented my drivers door. I pushed it out and its not bad... I have three spares if I need to replace it so for right now it is fine.

Is "Dollar" the name of the K5 that dontoe and the rest of us were riding in that day?

Yeah, 'Dollar' was owned by "Grim reaper" for many years. He originally bought it for a buck...hence the name. I've seen plenty of dollar at Tellico pic's in the past.
