So ...replaced temp sensor and wire with new connector. 91 gmc jimmy 5.7 tbi. Temp is always just way over max always ,no fluctuations at all. Anyone with ideas ...thanks

Did the gauge work before? Sounds like either wire or the gauge is bad

way over max, normally indicates and open circuit. Just so I understand, the gauge worked fine before the new sender and plug with pig tail were installed ?

No it did not work right,so I replaced those two parts and still nothing. Btw when I disconnect the wire from the sender it goes kind of to a normal position like just over 120°or so

There is a wiring or gauge problem then.

Simple test of the circuit is to disconnect the wire, see if the gauge goes past max one direction, then connect that same wire directly to ground. It should go to max the opposite direction.

Yours is not acting properly with the sender disconnected, so the problem is not the sending unit.

All the other gauges work properly? This vintage they generally all share the same power and ground, so other gauges would be affected if it was a cluster power or ground issue.
