I have owned my truck for a year now and for most of its life the temp gauge has read high. Not just in the red but the pointer is pointing directly to the right. What do I need to do about this problem its pretty annoying not knowing my water temp.

Sender is dead, or the wire is disconnected. Fix the wiring and/or replace the sender. Possible the gauge is bad or the cluster wiring is flaky, but I've not seen that happen.

Should be, depending on the truck, a green wire going to a sender on the driver's side of the block, in with the spark plugs.

try an aftermarket one, theyre much more accurate and fairly inexpensive and easy to install.
