Temp Sending Unit Placement on 1974 5.7 350

I am looking at my engine and trying to figure out where the proper placement for the Temp Sending Unit is on this engine.
The front passenger side of the intake is occupied by a heater hose connection.
The PO had put one in the right side of the block...I current have it in the water neck housing (I know that's wrong).

Where does it belong?

Side of the block, usually the drivers side.

Side of the cylinder head , usually the drivers side.
