Can some one clear this up for me:

There is a temp sensor in the top of the intake

There is a temp sensor in the drivers side head

Which one is for the engine controls and what one is for the dash temp gauge

My head has this style but when looking up at auto parts they can not seem to locate the correct part. Maybe this is the wrong one installed on my truck?,

so I figured out that the one in the head is doing the gauge and the one in the intake must for engine management

For some reason the auto parts can not find the right sensor for the gauge, my truck currently has one like post a few threads up and the parts stores want to sell one that is a spade connector. I wonder if my truck has the wrong one in it?

Temperature gauge "sending unit" for the gauge or dash idiot light..goes in cylinder head, like Sweet K30 said..there are two versions, one for a gauge and one for a idiot light..usually the gauge style has the "button" connector, and the idiot lamp type has a spade connector..

Temperature "sensor" for the computer..located in the intake..

Parts listings calling both "sensors" is the problem..

And to take this one bump farther, the unit for the light is the 'temperature switch'. So, you have a sensor, a sender and a switch. My 84 used the one you pictured for the gauge.

I just called the dealer, they had a hard time finding the part and had to called me back. They gave me a 8993146 GM number which is a spade connector, this is also a delco D1885. I read that if you had a button style use a delco 213-80 but the information I am finding seems to be a little miss leading. There are many that look the same like the TS-6, I am just not sure internally if they are different resistance to make the gauge read properly.
