Testing injectors for damage

Is there a way to test tbi injects for internal damage with out the use of a flow bench?

I located my problem child (flooding & stalling) while running there is a light stream of fuel running off the tip of the injector inside the cone spray.

I have an additional set of injectors which i could use but i do not know their history.

You can measure the resistance of the coil. Open circuit = bad injector. Resistance in spec = go on to next test. The resistances of the injectors should all be close to each other.

You can rig a makeshift tester out of tubing and elbows and stuff. Pressurize it with air at a pressure similar to the injector operating pressure after filling the setup with a small amount of fluid. For fluid you can use brake cleaner or gas, but be very careful shooting flammable liquids about. (There are special fluids for this purpose, but your question implies that this will not be a real flow bench). This is also useful for cleaning the injectors.

But, if it's TBI, it's easier to just look at the pattern while installed on the engine.

There is a guy in Michigan that has cleaned several sets for guys around here and he does a great job. Really good communication and won't charge you for anything you don't need. He did my RamJet injectors for me last year. His site is cool too in that he posts the results from each test for access on-line.
