Finishing up on my brother's TJ build.... and he's worried about being legal cuz of fender flares.

Anyone know what you can get away w/ as far as tires stickin' out?

Thanks!

Its hit or miss in Texas. Really depends where in Texas you are and what type of ahole cop you get to deal with. As for getting it inspected, I think you will have to cover the wheels.

Hey Marv,

Here is the Texas Department of Public Service Inspection Criteria. Use the drop down box to find the class of vehicle for your brother's rig. As far as the Texas DPS or other law enforcement goes, it depends on where you are and what kind of officer you have. Some are really cool and want to pull you over just to talk about your rig. It happens. Others are strict and want to make sure you have a safe vehicle.

Hope the link helps.

This was my buddys DD for about 2 years and noproblems. He even ask a State Trooper one day and he said that as long as there were no complants that he was OK.

Just tell Duane when he comes to el paso to bring and extra $50 and we can get it inspected w/o someone even seeing it.

as far as getting pulled over, like they said, its hit or miss. I drove my old truck everywhere and hardly got a second look from the cops.

jeep looks nice---i think he should put the cooler carrier back on---give it a "back in the day look":D
