Does anyone know what the Texas rules are for Title transfers? I am about ready to buy a Blazer from a guy in Texas and he says he has the Title but never got it transferred into his name.

In Florida this is illegal, called "Jumping Title" and comes with heavy fines....

Help...

Someone's gonna pay a penalty. You can transfer it to your name from the previous owner, IF he signed it, and pay a late fee. Or you can have the present owner transfer it, then transfer it again to you the same day. Best option to avoid a mess is to have him go to the tax office with you and do both transfres the same time. He will pay the penalty plus sales tax and transfer fees. You will pay transfer costs plus tax on price you pay for the vehicle.

Be sure and click on the "fined" link in the artcle. It can be pretty steep.

Thanks...I never realized what an uphill climb it would be to buy a car out-of-state....it's beginning to border on ridiculous.

I went and got a loan and now find out this crap....
