I am just begining my build up of an 81 k10 sub. I lifted the front 3", the rear 4" and will be running 35" tires. My front axle is a 10blt my rear is a 14blt, locked. I've got a 208 with a slip yoke and a th350 trans, behind a 350 eng. that puts out about 335hp. My question is, is my tranny strong enough or should I swap in a th400? I will be abusing this thing off road but no rocks are in its future. I was just wondering because I have heard bad things when comparing a th400 to a th350. Thanks for any input.

TH400 is stronger. A TH350 will put up with a reasonable amount of abuse. If you run a transmission cooler with your TH350 and change the fluid/filter on a scheduled basis it will usually last a long time.

I have a TH350 behind my 388 stroker making roughly 350hp and 450ft/lbs tq. My Burb weighs in excess of 6000lbs and I am not easy on the skinny pedal. My TH350 has help up fine, but I also have a 2000rpm stall and TCI shift kit.

As long as it is mechanically sound, it will hold up just fine.:D

in a sub, id run a th400/208 or th400/205 as subs are heavy and wheelbase is long so a th400 would work fine.
