Hey I know its been covered and I search around but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. My TH-400 (less that 30k) started making a squealing/ticking noise when under load only! No loss of power etc. I noticed when I put it into gear I hear a ticking sound (very minimal) for a few seconds then it goes away. I'm thinking flex plate, but the others I have has that cracked the noise went away under-load and were not accompanied by the squealing noise. Any thoughts or suggestions would be great! Thanks.

I had a similar problem with a 400 and the noise it made and I found out too late. I revved up the 454 and the counterweight that was welded on the flexplate came off and shattered 3 holes in the bellhousing. So my guess would be a loose weight.

Pull the converter cover and ry to duplicate the noise.

I had a high mileage 454 once that did that. Mine was crank endplay causing the flexplate to move forward and backward under a load allowing the weight to hit the cover.

I sure hope its not the motor also has 30k on it! I can only duplicate when under-load either pulling steep hills or pulling up to some railroad ties and giving gas. Just before it starts to move over the ties it will make the noise.
