mudbogAD and i replaced my flexplate last year (hard job!!!) and it is clicking again it broke before and was hitting the shield thing and it is doing it again!/forums/images/icons/mad.gif(or still actually) why is this happening? can i but a beefy a$$ flexplate to eliminate it? does anyone else have that problem? whenever torque is applied to the drivetrain(taking off or playing in the mud) it goes "CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK" and it's loud i can hear it from inside with the windows up!/forums/images/icons/frown.gif/forums/images/icons/mad.gif please help me!!

Re: th-400 problem still making noise!!!

I can almost bet a million $$$ that it broke again in your backyard mudbogg. That's when I heard that clicking noise again.

Re: th-400 problem still making noise!!!

yeah i know it's not the driveshaft cuz it does it when the front shaft is not spinning too, and i've come to recognize the noise.

Re: th-400 problem still making noise!!!

I just wanted to make sure. I'd never heard a flexplate make what I'd describe as a, "clicking" noise.

The last time I had the trans out of my C30 I had a real hard time getting the flexplate off. Be careful, those bolts freeze in there good, and they're METRIC!!! 14mm, NOT 9/16". I rounded two of them off and never did get the flexplate off. Good thing the rear main wasn't actually leaking or I'd have to get a MIG welder up here and weld a nut to them to get them out. Even a 6 point wouldn't take them out.

Re: th-400 problem still making noise!!!

A stock flexplate will do just fine, muddysub. Make sure it's for a 1 piece rear main seal.

Re: th-400 problem still making noise!!!

Those bolts are an @ss to get out. I had to do it once before. Try to retorque them to 75 ft. pounds. You need two people and a huge flathead to stop the engin from turning.

Re: th-400 problem still making noise!!!

When the flex-plate cracks around the bolt holes it basically wobbles when there is a load which makes it contact the bellhousing cover. It generates a clicking noise.

Re: th-400 problem still making noise!!!

I put the transmission back in and put the other 4 bolts in. They're rounded off to the point where they're not coming out without heating them up or welding a nut to them.
