th-400 question

i just got another th-400 trans and it looks alittle different from my other one. one (the bastard child with a 10 spline output shaft) has a large bearing right were the adapter bolts up. the new one one has no such bearing and i can se some of the internals (speedo gear and some stuff along the bottom). the new one bolts to an np208 tcase and im wondering if that void is normal. nothing appeared to be broken inside the case. the new trans is out of an 88 or 89 chevy truck. is this trans busted or is it good to go?

The void is normal.

All of the 10 spline units I've seen have been from Jeeps. Check the bellhousing bolt pattern, it may be different from your GM version.
