I just picked up a SM465 + NP205 to put in my 78 K5 with a 350. I was wondering if there is a certain size flywheel I need, not sure which one I need since I see there is more than one size. Also any info that is "good to know" for this conversion would be cool too! I was going to go the doubler route with my TH350 and NP203 but cost and the fact that my TH350 is a pos made me decide this route is better.

Thanks!

Mark

Thanks yeah I have read that several times, very cool. Still need the flywheel size though and tooth count needed for a '78 350.

Should be a 168 tooth count flywheel..IIRC you can reuse your old starter to.,as long as the flywheel is a standard pitch and not a metric pitch.. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

I think that you have to make sure if you have a 1 piece or 2 piece rear main. I think that the flywheel's are different.

They ARE different. The engine in my truck is an '86 so it has the 1 piece seal. I had to buy a new flywheel to the tune of about $100.

I think it was in 85 from what I was told . I know from seeing an 86 close up that they were for sure hydro by then , and I know in 83 ( I have one ) they were still mechanical /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif
