Quick question. So I just put a new used tranny in my 76 blazer, trying to get the truck ready to go wheeling on Sunday, one of my cooler lines has a compression union on it that is leaking pretty bad. My thinking is that I will put a new compression Union on to stop the leak so I can go wheeling, gonna order a new line soon but something has to be done tomorrow. So does anyone know what size the cooler lines are? So I can know what size comp union to buy. Thanks a lot.

don't half a$$ it . trans fluid is flammable next to exhaust . do it right .

That white smoke coming from under the hood ... is ATF. Ask me how I know :doah: You suddenly become thankful for that fire extinguisher you keep handy ... you do, right? :deal:

That particular truck had the hard lines cut and patched with rubber line. By a "professional" shop, no less. :angry1:

Nothing wrong with compression fittings on tranny cooler lines, other than maybe they do crush the tube some and "might" restrict the flow a small amount--I've used them on many of my vehicles with no troubles, and I trust those a lot more than rubber hose, even the "correct" type tranny cooler hose..

It's not much harder to just use a pair of tube nuts with a union and flare the tubing, but the compression fittings are "fast and easy"..

Just don't trust them on brake lines!..though I've driven a few trucks for years and was horrified to see one of them had 3 compression fittings on the rear brake line, the tubing rusted thru and popped before the fittings gave any grief..:eek1:...

Buy the lines in coil form, and thank me later. Using the straight stuff is a headache. Coil is much better :thumb:
