TH350 Gurus and NP208 Gurus I NEED HELP

Hello,
Ok for the last fer months I have been saying that my tranny has been kicking out of gear. And I have to put it into "N" then shut the truck off stick the transfer case into 4L start the truck back up stick it in drive then back into "N" to put the transfer case back into 2H. Now How do I adjust the linkage between the transfer case and the tranny?

The transfer case and the tranny have there own seperate linkages. They are not connected.

I am going to assume you mean the t-case is kicking out of gear. If it is the tranny than the 4L should have no effect. I don't know the 208 so I can't advise on how to fix it.

it may be out of adjustment, put in 4hi with engine off and in park. remove linkage from tcase lever underneath, loosen both jam nuts and hook linkage back up. thread nuts till both touch the center peice with out moving it. then take a wrench and tighten both nuts. it should be adjusted correctly

if adjusting it doesn't help, then its time to rebuild the tcase. the syncros are bad and allows it to jump out of gear.

On the pass side of the truck there is a big rod that goes from the t-case to the bellhousing. Well it looks like it should bolt right up to the bellhousing, but it is not. What does that rod do?

thats a strut rod, it keeps the tcase trangulated to keep from breaking the adapter or either housing.
