So I just pulled the tranny out of my 78 K5, of course I forgot to disconnect the Detent Cable (classic) so the small plastic piece on the tranny snapped off and as I went to remove it, the connecting pieces fell down inside my tranny...

I have no idea how to hook this back up on inside the transmission. I'm going to buy a new detent cable and I know I'll have to take the pan off to connect this back up but I can't find anything about how the detent cable hooks inside of the transmission. Any advice? Is it obvious enough to where when I pull off my pan I can see how its supposed to hook up?

Thanks!

take off the nut and see whats under, should be a wire with an S shape on end. If that is ripped out you either bent it straight or ripped it out. Or worst case senerio broke what that wire ataches too. Pull pan and take some pics. You should be ok.
