TH350 question.

Ok I bought Ron Sessions book and I have my TH350 just about rebuilt. Now can the 80-86 pump be used with the 68-79 pump cover? Was just wondering since the wider gears in the late pump would give better flow at low RPM and the early cover would enable the use of thrust washers instead of the needle bearings.

Checked into this today at the local trans shop. The guy there said it will work and in fact works quite well for 4x4's. Pressure stays the same since it is regulated, just lots more flow. Should keep a trans from overheating under heavy loads.
