TH350 tailshaft

Could I take a th350 2wd short tailshaft, cut it down to work with my 208 (both are 27 spline) and then stab it into a trans I have thats known good? I know all the drums and everything has to come out of the case to get to the last drum and the snapring for the tailshaft, but does the valve body have to come off to get the thing apart?

I want to replace my 203 with this 208 I have, and my spare th350 shifts awesome. it will bark the 31's in second gear sometimes. I dont want to buy that kit with the spacer, and new tailshaft that advance adapters sells if I can make parts of what I have work.

If your 208 came from behind a TH350 it will have a fairly long adapter between the two and use a special shaft that only came with the 350/208 combo. I have several of these shafts I will probably never use, if you need one let me know.
