After much debating on which transmission to use in my 70 Blazer I have to decided to use a SM465/205/203 combo to go behind the 406 I have had built. I have found a complete 465/205 setup with bellhousing, linkages, etc. I know I will need the obvious stuff....flywheel, pressure plate, ect. I am assuming the pedals will be different as it is out of a 76 blazer. Anything else I should look for to complete the swap?

I'm doin the same right now on my 72. Picked up wildood pedal and slave, Novak Hydro kit, 456/205, Luk clutch kit. ditchin the Xmember and makin my own, somethin for a bit of protection. when yer lookin for a 4spd/205, try and split them apart and check the sleeve and shafts, inspect for wear, busted stuff...the usual.

Just waitin for my diy4x engine Xmember, then a weekend slam session to bolt in my 454, mount the tranny and case, built the Xmember and hopefully squeeze out a few more pennies for headers, if not I'll hafta let it snow a bit and do it in the cold lol

Thanks for the info! I just finished cleaning the thing up and after inspecting the shafts for wear everything looks good to go. I'm collecting parts as we speak.....I had thought about a hydro kit but don't know if I have the extra funds. I have the original X-member for the TH350, will it bolt to the the transfer case and just drill new holes. I you can post up pictures that would be great!

depends on if the adapters are short or tall i can measure mine if you want, i am goin from a 72 turbo 350/205 to a 78, xmembers look like the same height.

got my engine xmember bolted in from diy4x, wow. uber sexy. waiting for my clutch kit, gasket sets and input/output bearings for the 465.

I'm still looking for pedals and linkages for 67-72 years....post some pics when you can

I went with a universal wilwood pedal and slave then the novak hydro clutch kit, not cheap but worth it. I'll take a pic of my pedal/slave mounting when its done, tomorrow if it doesnt rain.

Given the op to build from the ground up, I would also go hydro on the clutch. Mine binds on occassion and is scheduled to get he axe.

hopefully have it all bolted together this weekend weather permitting (damn rain) but i'll hafta wait a few weeks to order headers, then she'll be back on the road.

here is my novak setup. im running a centerforce clutch and fly though. my only complaint is the adjustment nut is a little short, it works for me but i would be happier if it was longer. idono if this is different at all but my ride is a 85 jimmy.

Does anyone have a link to the Novak Hydro clutch kit refered to here?

pedal

alright I realy wanna do this swap to but my fab skils are infinatile and I work 80 hours a week too. What abbout the pedals???? there should be 1

for my pedals it wasn't to bad, i just found a pedal from a chevy with a 4 speed and a hydro setup and then used washer's to space out the pedal to where i wanted it, and a longer bolt through the brake pedal and i was done. i still need to beef up my firewall cause it flexes a little and i loose a little pedal there.this swap it pretty much bolt in. the hammer only came out for the floor

I got a wilwood pedal and slave from summit, 3/4 bore. if you want pics of where i mounte it lemme know. i will be doing a cab swap so i'll probly be removing part of the firewall and adding new metal for better mounting. plus the aftermarket hydro boost setup will make for better room.

Hazy did you end up with any freeplay in the pedal once getting it adjustem or just adjust it until the fork is at zero contact?

Is the adjustment nut on that 3/8 SAE thread? Maybe when I go this route a guy can find that piece at the hardware store and find one a little longer?

my setup allows for freeplay after i got the nut in the right spot. i like my setup cause anyone on here could have done it.
