today i was changing my filter and fluid and all the stuff u do for the tranny tune up and the build up in my filter was blackish grey and it had metal hair like strings on top of the filter......But i just so happened to look thru the valve body and my fluid was still red. So what does anybody think the metal hairlike peices come from and why was it still red in the valve body and not the filter

Could be a number of things. Most innocent of all of them is putting it in park while moving slightly. That tends to shave a bit of metal off each time. Or it could just be tens of thousands of miles of normal wear and tear. If the trans worked ok and the fluid smelt and looked ok, I wouldn't worry too much at the moment. No point pulling it to find out if it's working ok.
