Im looking for th400/205 crossmember for my 83 chevy. Im not sure if these had any other braces also. Let me know what you have, thanks.

(I picked up the th400/205 combo complete with shifters etc, its at the trans shop now getting redone.)

well we need to know short or tall adaptor style ?

and also if tall adaptor what style frame 1/2-3/4 or 1ton ?

:doah: ahhh...ok ill have to see what adapter is on it. i know its a slip yoke 205 but thats about it. Its for my 1/2 ton shortbed. Im pulling the 465 out for a 400. Collecting the parts, art carr shifter, jb twin stick.....The crossmember is the missing link..!!!..lol

Since your truck is an '83 and as long as the crossmember is flat, and if your 400/205 is the pre-'85 model with the tall adaptor, you will be fine with your current existing crossmember.

From what it looks like my crossmember is flat and yes the 400 had the tall adapter. So its exactly what you said...perfect and thankyou.

Does that use the same clam shell mounts..?

only thing that will change for you in the crossmember system is possible redrill holes in frame to bolt it back up .

same member and bushings .

Sounds good, thanks guys. Here i am looking for something i dont need, you guys are great...thanks again.:waytogo:

They are the same...just changed from 400/205 to 465/208 used my old cross member and mounts, didn`t change a thing, or have to drill any holes.

1980 frame.

Yes, same rubber mounts apply to all the pre-'85 trucks. But if they're soft and squishy why not take the time to get some new ones to put in before you button everything up?

These were new energy suspention poly mounts 5 years ago. They look decent yet, prob 500 miles on it since. But i can get new ones, i totally understand what your saying. I did just get the trans all redone with a full manual valvebody, new converter, transcooler with a fan and now onto what shifter with a bench seat..lol. I really want an artcarr...but it isnt tall enough.

Are your motor mounts rubber or poly? If they're rubber they should be changed to poly as its not good to mismatch one or the other.

As u mention that i think they are rubber, ill check that too. If so ill change those to poly too.
