Need advice on what combo I should go with, keeping in mind cost, parts availability and strength. After hours of searching, my skull is numb:D

Here's what I have laying around now

2-4wd TH350s
1- 2wd TH350
1- 205 with short 32 spline input (fig 8 pattern)
1- 203 with adapter (TH350 version)

I can also get a hold of a TH400 with a 208 output shaft.

I'll be building the tranny, whichever one I use.

To use a 400/205 I would need (I think):
figure 8 adapter
Long output shaft (4.5" stickout from the case)

To use a 350/205:
350/205 adapter
27 spline input for the 205
27 splined sleeve

Or, buildup the stock 350/203

Going behind a 383 with 400+ TQ and HP.

Thanks Y'all

You won't need to build any transmission is you go SM465/NP205. Then sell all that stuff.

th400. You can buy brand new output shafts from PATC (raptor tranny guys) relatively inexpensively. I know they have the short 32 spline (like you need for a a th400-np203) for like $65. the 400 costs the same to rebuild as a th350... go for the beef. :thumb:

I am going with the TH400 for my next tranny. They are beefy and I shouldn't have any more tranny issues. I am going with a TH400 because I feel a TH350 is only a half step forward from the 700R4 in my truck now and a mild built TH400 should be as strong or stronger then a pretty hefty build on a Th350.

With my truck I could get both a TH350 or TH400 to bolt in but I want the strongest tranny and I can have them both for pretty much the same price.
