Th400/205 to 400/208 questions

I have a th400 with a figure 8 pattern 205 out of a k30 i am swapping into my k5 but my t case its messed up and I want to go 208 just to make minimal work with drive lines, will any 32 spline 208 case bolt up or are there differences with the one ton vs. 3/4 ton setup?

The figure 8 205 has the short input so a 208 that was behind a th400 will be the right input, but the adapter is going to be your problem, I will check to see the difference between the adapters in thickness.
How thick is the adapter you have now?
I have all the 208 adapters you can think of, but not the figure 8 205 adapter to measure for you.

all th400 in 4wd got 32 spline.

just diffrent lengths of output shafts.

It's the adapter info I need, I know all the shafts
I am just missing that adapter so when he gets me that measurement tomorrow I will be able to tell if you have any options as bolt in.
And yes the splines are 32, so as long as you get a 208 from behind a th400 or sm465 then you will have a 32 pline.

208 transfer case to TH400 adapters are 2.5" long. 205 adapters to TH400 are 4 inches. 208 equiped TH400 transmissions have a stick out of 2.375". Round bolt pattern 205's use 2.375" stick out TH400's because they have the long input. Most racetrack or figure 8 pattern 205's use the short input and a long (4.5") stickout TH400. Some do use the long input in the 205 and the 2.375" TH400 but I have only seen them in M1031 and other CUCV's with a 205.
