th400 and transfer case question

I have a line on a th400 and transfer case for sale.There from a 88 chevy 1500 with a 350 engine. What transfercase could this be and how do I find out for sure :confused:

I have a NP205/350 combo now could I make the 205 work with the th400?
 
you got to change the input shaft, machine the 205 for a larger bearing, and get the proper adapter to make it work with a 400 if it was from a th350
 
Post a pick or look for an ID tag is the fastest way to ID the Transfercase
 
I think 700R4 should have been the trans, never put a TH400 in a 1/2 ton truck..................

If you got the basic 3-spd auto... you got a TH400. ;)

T-case should be a LH-drop NP241 with VSS.

The only type of NP205 thats a bolt-on for that TH400 is an 85-91 type with the round pattern. Of course, you need the 85-91 TH400/NP205 adapter to go with it.

There are 400's in some of those trucks.

My dad has a 88 1/2 ton 2wd v6/turbo 400 in a extra cab long bed that came from the factory that way.

I havent seen one in a 4wd though.
 
Yep,...... never saw a TH400 in a 1/2 ton , but just cause I ain't seen it don't mean it don't exist!

Yeah........... my 77 K5 has a TH 400 in it and two transfer cases !!;) I am sure that's not stock!!

I had a 88 k-5 that was a border patol truck, it had a th400 and a 208, I think I might still have the rpo sheet still.
