th400 dipstick reading

I bought a 78 k25 a few days ago with a th400 and it has a trans dipstick like I have never seen before. Do any of y'all know how to read this? Is the level supposed to be at the top of the "u" area once its hot?

Quite possibly, that didn't even cross my mind. I'll check when I get home and see if it looks broken or made that way.
