Ok, so if I were to grab a th400 from a CUCV that's behind a dead 6.2, what's the problems I'd run into putting it into my rig with a 350 block. How does the gearing/torque converter/flexplate/engine stuff work with that swap when I have a 700r4.

$600 OBO CUCV for sale nearby with a dead 6.2

Gearing, bolt pattern, etc is the same gas vs. diesel. You'll be losing overdrive obviously, TH400 is a 3 speed. The torque converter and governor are different on a diesel Th400. The CUCV TH400 kickdown is electric and operates through a switch on the gas pedal. You might need a new transfer case adapter if you plan on using whatever you already have. Otherwise the CUCV will have an NP208 if its anything but an M1031. It will bolt right up, just need to set it up for a gas engine to work correctly.

The converter is 6 bolt, but 3 of them will pick up on a regular flexplate. I put a manual valve body in mine, so I dont know about anything else. I know you can get an electronic kickdown for them from TCI I think, but I went a different route.

Everythings the same, my CUCV trans broke at the center support, so we swapped everything into a k case and kept running the guts. Hope this helps.

th400 & 4l80 autos = 32 spline tail shaft to tcase input.

th350 & 700r4 = 27 spline input to tcase.

so you will be forced to use the tcase with the doner truck tranny.

and gas pedal switch 1 wire 3 bolts to swap to other truck fast easy.

This one?

Probably, in Olympia? That's the one I saw online. There's also 5 more on Ft. Lewis at auction through gov liquidation I found, Lewis is FINALLY letting those go. So I may go that route. But the one in Olympia is a sure thing if it's still availiable. Where as the bid starts at $150 which is great, but of course it could go WAY higher.

I'd prolly just drop both tranny and transfer from either CUCV. I know I'll be losing the overdrive, but I don't care about that. If it'll all bolt up, great, and I'll have the entire truck to swap additional stuff. Plus through that CUCV, my buddy could fix all the things needed on his 77 K5, so I'd have someone to go wheelin' with :waytogo: Plus other goodies of having a CUCV, should have a hydroboost, perhaps the turn signal cams are the same and I can fix mine

Everything on the CUCV is the same as a civilian truck of the same model year, so plenty of good extra parts. The only difference is the 24v system and its associated parts to run the 24v starter.
