I haven't dealt much with automatic transmissions, so I'm not sure if there is a way to adjust this or not. Anyway, when in gear (drive or reverse) the transmission is catching, like the torque converter is wanting to lock up. I can be on a significant incline and the car will idle up the incline. If I hold the brake down, it will want to drive the car forward to the point of the engine dying. Any suggestions of where to start looking? I'm planning on doing a flush and new filter, but the fluid looks pretty good.

have you checked for a vacuum leak? At the modulator too?

what year?
When you drop the pan, see if there is any steel pieces in it. If if hasn't been apart before, some aluminum sediment is normal.
Sounds like possibly the forward clutch and/or direct clutch isn't releasing. It could also be something in the valve body or rear servo. & accumulator.

No telling what year the trans is. It's in my GTO. I know I'm the third owner and it's on the third engine...no telling what the trans is. I'll check for the vacuum leak and the modulator. I'm not planning on pulling the trans until the end of the winter and I'll be swapping in a manual. I can live with it until then if it's something major. Thanks for the ideas.
