th400 = no reverse

I was going up a sand hill, didn't make it, put it in reverse to pop out of the hole I dug, started moving, and got a loud bang, lost reverse, but have forward gears.

How bad is it?

I just went through the trans about 2 years, and 5k miles ago

I did the same thing with my th350 but it sounded like I had a stick tranny and it made a grinding noise! Somebody told me I broke the reverse basket in my tranny. When I pulled the tranny out and dropped the pan there was lots of shavings and big parts of metal.
