I was wheeling this past sunday, and a friend noticed that i was pouring out trans fluid, we checked and it was coming from between the trans and transfer case. the truck was running, but in park. my question is, is there a seal at the back of the transmission where it bolts up to the adapter, or could i have overheated the trans? i do not have an extra trans cooler yet, but i was really only driving around in dirt, not so much wheeling...

Thanks in advance

o and i realize a lot could be learned by pictures, or me spending some time under the truck looking at the leak, but its pouring rain out, and my truck is currently 50 miles away at a friend's house.

Check the 4 bolts on the back of the trans or the 6 on the case. I bet they are loose. One side has a gasket or RTV and the other has a rubber o-ring.

Good chance tightening them will stop it. If not have to separate them and clean them up and re-seal.

Thank you sir, I will try tightening them and hopefully it at least slows it down so I can drive her to work for a lift.

No problem. Mine came loose after a good wheelin trip awhile back. I replaced each of the bolts one at a time with new ones on the back of the trans. Snugged everything up and then after some cleaning applied a thin layer of RTV on the outside of the seam. Its been working fine.

Its all getting pulled out sooner than later and replaced so I saw no need to tear it out and re seal it:waytogo:

well, i am not as lucky as you were. the bottom bolt on the case side has no threads... the two on either side of it were rather loose, and tightened up nicely, but when i went to snug the bottom bolt, it just kept on spinning, i tried running it, and it leaks a lot less, but still way too much to ever drive on, so it continues to sit, unfortunately. I am lucky in the fact that i have access to 3 more 208s lol, so ill grab one and throw some new seals at it, and be back in business

thanks again for the help.
