Freshly rebuilt HD case TH400 and freshly resealed/serviced NP208 out of CUCV M1028 1 ton Chevy truck with just a little over 40k original miles. Trans & Case have less that 3k on them. Complete setup-includes adapter & crossmember! We are replacing this with an overdrive transmission! The transfer case operates perfectly, and the trans works great with only one issue! The trans does not hold on deceleration. It upshifts and downshifts perfectly, but does not hold on deceleration. Could be faulty converter? Anyway, price reflects issue. Over $1000 in trans rebuild alone + the work on the t-case. $450

It is not the converter. It's inside. Had same thing happen to one. Not put back together correct

I've had a few TH400's and TH350's that would "free wheel" when coasting and it was the vacuum modulator ,one had a bad diaphram and the other had lost its vacuum source when the steel tubing rusted thru..
This also made them upshift into third "late" and harsher than normal too..problem went away when I replaced the modulator and the tubing..

I guess that one had a bad stator in the converter ?..

Must have had something in the converter that went bad. The guy I sold it to rebuilds transmissions and texted me and said converter fixed the issue. We had changed the modulator a couple of times prior thinking that may hasve been the problem.
