Wrench,couple questions.
Your NP205,is it a figure 8 bolt pattern?
Looks like it from the pic of your adapter.
2nd,how much did it cost to machine that adapter?
3rd,what Bell is that?
Any updates?
It is a figure 8 bolt pattern NP205. I mapped out the pattern for both the 205 and the NV4500, centered them to each other, and drilled appropriately. There are three holes unused in the NP205, which I plan to use to bolt up a custom mount to take the weight of it off the NV tailhousing. It cost me $300 to machine the adapter, but it likely would have been less if I had gotten the pattern just right from the beginning, he started work and was unclear about some things, so we had to go over it again, and his shop rate was $75/hour. Cost was 4hrs labour + around $70 for the chunk of steel. Anybody with a machine lathe or access to one could make it up, so it would be a lot cheaper for some of the guys on this board.
That is a SM465 mechanical clutch bell. I wanted the mechanical clutch for the reliability, bleeding brakes is enough headache and I've replaced too many internal slave cylinders that pooped and took the clutch out by dumping fluid all over. If I had a major lift I could have used the external style slave but this is a tow rig/road queen.
The pilot diameter for the bell and the early NV4500 are the same, and while the mounting holes don't line up, they all fall outside the case in the mounting flange. So, I drilled and tapped the case for the 465 bell, there's a guy on TDP that did the same thing with great results. Only downside is that I won't be able to pull the tranny without the bell, but you can't with an auto anyway. Big deal.
I'm currently focussed on my engine, should have it all together by Friday night and I'll post up pictures.
Other than that I'm still plugging away on the cab in between. New rockers and cab corners are in, I've stripped most of the old paint down to bare metal and my new paint arrived Tuesday. I'm using Endura EP-FD two part epoxy primer and Utech HSP (high solids polyurethane) by Azko Nobel single stage red paint. I also have three of four new power doors with complete cab wiring harness from scrounging, just looking for a drivers front door now. Back doors have factory tint windows (off a sub) and I paid $35 each for them at the wreckers. Patience pays :-).
I'll post pictures when I've made some visible progress, right now it's all the piddly slow stuff . . .
