th400 to 205 ???

this post is for a friend so bear with me i'm not quite sure what he wants to do...i'll just cut and paste the email he sent me.............
"Can you find out if a TH400 that came with an np203 can be used with a 205 in this config:
TH400 short shaft->6bolt x 6 bolt adaptor->6bolt np205 long input shaft"

Sounds like he's talking about a 85+ 205 which uses the short/round style adapter. The 400 that would have come on the 85+ 205 uses a tailshaft longer than that of a 400/203 set up. I don't believe he'll be able to do what he's trying to do, sorry.

No that will not work but if he has the th400 and the 203 and the adapter, I have the th400 he needs maybe we can make a deal.
And I will be in NJ often delivering stuff.

th 350 to 203 and 205 yes same output shaft used in tranny.

th 400 to 203 is one output. then 2 diffrent 205 outputs are used in the th 400.

I’m looking for the 400/205 combo. Willing to trade that and ive got all the other crap too: a dana 44 front, dana 60 70 combo from a jeep with 5.88’s and a 700r4/np208 combo.

So, what I understand is you have a 400/203 adapter and you want a 400/205. You should be able to trade this off for what you want as the 400/203 adapter is a desired item for a doubler.
