th400 to 465 swap finished, couple questions

1st question.....Was there ever a clutch safety switch with the mech clutch linkage?

also.....I didn't realize how quite this burb WAS till now. I am getting lots of noise through the trans shifter boot. It is sealed to the floor good, but lots of noise gets through the rubber itself. was there ever a factory noise isolator for under the shift boot?

lovin the 4gear....couldn't stand the 1st gear ratio of the th400.

mines noisy and I left as much floorboard and padding as I could and still clear. ive never worried about the safety cutoff but I never start mine other than sitting in the seat.

this is true.

the problem is we have two burbs (one auto) and 99% of the time the wife drives the auto burb, and I just think it would be safer to have some sort of safety if she has to drive this one.
 
Far as I know, pretty much every clutch type vehicle had a starter lockout on the clutch for a long time.
Should be plenty of switches and brackets out there.
 
There should be a neutral safety switch on the clutch pedal.

Also the SM465 is a loud mofo. Insulation is your friend.

funny thing is, that it is mostly tire noise that I hear through the shifter boot. When I put this burb together I doubled all the insulation on the floor (the factory asphalt stuff and the factory formed padding piece).
So there are 2 layers of the asphalt stuff and 2 layers of the formed piece. It took awhile for it to all lay down and not feel so thick, but man did it make it quiet inside.
