Pulling parts together for an eventual BBc into my 73 Blazer.
The engine and TH400 are from a later 89 2wd 3/4 ton Suburban.
Can I use the tranny and use an adapter for the 205 or do I have a problem?
I know there is a specific adapter from the 400 to 205 (Part #?) but after a search I am still confused by output shaft diameters etc!

The 205 will need to have the correct input gear, IIRC it's a short 32 spline. The Th400 will need the correct output shaft. 2wd transmissions won't bolt directly to a transfer case, their output shaft are too long.

If you can't find the correct Th400/205 adapter, I may have one I could part with. Send me a PM if you're interested.

Correction:

The 2wd th400 if it is the fixed yoke will bolt to an early style short input 32 spline 205
The newer style th400 4wd will bolt to a long input 32 spline 205.
The adapters are quite different so I say what ever you find cheaper go with it, both are going to be hard to find and people might want big dollars for them because they use them for doublers, but my guess is it will be cheaper to find a set of newer th400/205 than to find an older 205 with adapter to match your th400 2wd.
