th400 wiring harness

i have a few around i know they have an orange wire, if i dug around i could find a few, would take me a bit to recognize them, ive never needed one but saved from part outs anyways,
its been a while, switch on gas pedal mounting bracket under dash yeah, thats where its located since 69 or 7o- right in middle of the CST body style era

wire isnt real big, 14 or 16 gauge yeah

You don't need a ground wire. The solenoid in the tranny is grounded back through the tranny/engine/etc. When the pin on the side of the tranny sees 12 volts, it tells the tranny to go into passing gear mode. :cool1: Connect one wire to a "hot in run" spot in the fuse panel and connect it to one side of the switch. Then one wire goes from the other side of the switch to the tranny.

Thanks that really helps! So if it is that simple maybe I shouldn't worry about finding the harness and just wire it myself  BTW how are the Springs now its been over 10 yrs since I have been there. I used to live on Burton Way. I miss it a lot.

Well good news! I found a harness at the yard today. It is missing the end that connects to the tranny but thats no big deal. My next question is on the electrical switch that mounts to the pedal. I took the one from the truck I faound the harness in. And before removing it I checked to see how much it moved the sliding switch, it moved the slide all the way. But when I put it on the bracket in my truck it barely moves the slide. How much should the slide be moving to actuate the connection? Also does anyone have a part number for this electrical switch on the pedal assembly? I thought it was available at the local parts store but it turns out that is the part on the trans itself. I would like to at least be able to get a new switch for the pedal assembly.

Well I finally called the Scoggin-Dickey and they carry the pedal switch in stock for $20. At least now I know where to get one if needed since all the chain stores don't carry it or even know what it is.
