gonna run an hp 60 and i need to use a ford 205.

in theory, i want to run a 4x4 th400 with a round pattern adapter with a long32 spline input inside the ford 205 case.

i can only think of having to notch out the adapter for a rail but dont actually have the ford case yet. nothing to piece together and hope for the best.

anyone have any experience doing this sort of thing? clocking, holes actually lining up, spline engagement, etc etc.

or should i just wait another year and get money for a doubler and just do it that way?

I was under the impression that ford 205's were divorced?

Not all. Which brings up another question. Is running a Divorced out of the question? I know wheelbase is a big issue. Just saying you get a divorced 205 you can put it any way you want.

I am planning on running a 78-79 Ford HP60 but I am going to run a doubler. I have not looked at running a Ford 205 behind a 400 but I am interested to see what you come up with. Without having it in front of me, I think you are on the right track.

divorced isnt out of the question, just availibility really. ive only seen two here come up in two years. didnt want em then you know.

ill probably go doubler if this doesnt work out, but i just want to get in the driver seat as soon as i can. not really worried or needing the doubler, but it would be cool to have.

Keep an eye out for Ford,International and Dodge. Whatever, all the guts are interchangable. There has to be an old International sittin behind someones barn or something.

If you are considered a divorced case I would look at beefing up at TH350. They are shorter and would "help" make things fit better, but you would still end up with very little rear driveshaft. More than likely it would require a CV joint to perform correctly (not explode).

it would be on a longbed p/u. kinda leaning away from a divorced, no real reason why. i would just like them to be stuck together.

I was gonna run a div Ford 205 in my 87, but sold it instead. IIRC the rear output would be just ahead of where the carrier bearing is. So the angles wouldn't be too bad. I also ran that case in an 89 with 12" of lift, no problems there. I had the Ford div 205 for sale in the classified section here, even with a crossmember for 73-up, but no bites.

But to run a 400 with a Furd 205, this is what I ran. 208/241 adaptor, short 32 spline input, and a 2" spacer to make up the difference, also for the difference in clocking the holes. MEK5 had the spacer, he let me borrow to get another one made.
