Replaced the EGR valve...........Guess What? The 87 Blazer runs great !!!! LOOK OUT....THERE'S ANOTHER 4X4 ON THE ROAD...After working on this project for 2 months, it's finally ready to roll....Thanks, CK5 family, for all the help !!! I will post pics of this beast soon...again, THANK YOU

Awesome, glad to hear it!

So could you discern what the problem was with the valve? Was the replacement the same, and the original was bad, or was the one on there wrong to begin with?

The original egr valve was correct....it had some carbon build up that was affecting the performance at light throttle only....sometimes it would act like it was going to run, then would start cutting out....It looks like the old egr valve had a ton of miles on it....so it was needing replaced....for whatever reason, I decided to replace everything else first.:o Since I've been working on this Blazer, I've replaced everything but the motor....and I think the heads are going to need some work now...I've got smoke from the exhaust, on start up....but that's going to have to wait till fall :wink1: I've gotta fix the front drive shaft so I can do some muddin....It's time to drive this thing and see what she's got. :D

Is it something else giving you cause to feel the need to work on the heads due to the smoke on start up. I was under the impression that might just be adjusting the valves or is that what you meant.

Always looking to get myself smarter.

Yes...that is what I meant....checking the valve guides and seals...hopefully not too much to do to them...maybe an adjustment or two...we'll see.
