i put a new clutch master and slave on the crew cab. tried bleeding it. for an hour and a half. no bueno. nuthin. not even with a vacuum bleeder.
removed the slave from the bellhousing and pumped it with my hand. still nuthin
used the search button on ck5. found a thread about a trapped air bubble in that elbow.
unhooked the master from the firewall and clutch pedal, then i kinda tipped/twisted it so the elbow was lower than the rest of it. then i pumped the slave with my other hand. and..... voila! i saw 4 bubbles come up into the resivoir. then i noticed that when you let the piston in the slave cylinder return, the fluid i the resivoir went down. so i hooked it all back up.. and..... WOW.. my clutch has never felt like that before!

I have read that thread, where is this elbow. did you have to reblead everything after that?

its that little plastic elbow that the resivoir hose hooks to. if the elbow is clear you can see the air bubbles in it.
i didnt have to bleed it afterwards. 1 person bleed. once you get all the air out, the fluid level will move up and down more when you squeeze the slave cylinder in and let it return. the slave will take longer to return after its bled completely. kinda hard to explain, but once you have it, you will know.

so, i did this little trick this morning- which is kinda pia twisting the mc around while still hooked up. anyways, i got a few VERY small bubbles. hooked her all back up and can't really tell much difference. clutch still engages pretty close to the floor.

so either the slave is weak (which i doubt) or its clutch time...

time for me to chime in.

thanks for the comp guys glad my info helped.

and the hydro is close to the floor for engagement. i had every thing new minus the hose.

my major problem was the traped air bubble was getting in the master a few times and causeing no clutch at all. not fun when in traffic.

.

interesting...

I've only had 2 hydro set ups. the last one seemed to release more mid level- and that was new clutch, old mc/ slave.

this on releases much closer to the floor and down shifting from 3rd to 2nd can be a bear (you know, more than the norm for a 465)
