Ok so i met up with my exboss today to see what exactly he had and what prices he wanted for a 14blt and a d60 . when i talked to him on the phone he gave me the impression that he was going to give me a really sweet deal. Anyways i go to his place and see what he has. He has 7!!!! 14bolt full floaters just laying arround, and 2 dana 60s all in a row. Not to mention the 3 trucks beside that, that have both a 14bolt and a D60s. So we get to talking and he spits out the price 500 bucks for the 14bolt and 550 for the D60, wow was I stunned. But these aren't your everyday junkyard axles they are stuffed with 4.10 and DL in every one. So my question is should i take it?? thats kinda alot of money to shell out for axles. I think i just might hunt arround for a K30 that has both those axles and a 454/465/205 in it as well.
So im stuck right now at 1/2 ton unless I just do a 14bolt swap!! and forget about the d60 for now!

thanks
Jess

i think the 60 is totally worth that, you can find 14's for less, so maybe buy the 60 and wait on the 14ff? anyone wanna back me up?

take the D60 for $550. That is a good price for just the front. I find 14FF for $50-$100 all the time and Lincoln Lockers are free.

Ok ill tell him to hold on to the d60 for me, and then just hunt for 14bolts!!! Thanks guys!

Buy both of the D60's that he has. Sell 1 on pirate for $700 (still a good deal on a D60). Take the extra money and use it to buy a 14FF (pick a part on 1/2 price day) and other stuff like wheels etc...

I agree. Buy both but sell one of them on eBay for around $1000 to get some extra cash to find your 14FF and possibly upgrade either axle with the leftover dough. /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

Do you mean DL=Detroit locker??? So does both the front 60 and 14-bolt have Detroits already installed???

In any case, $550 is a good deal for any complete front 60.

$500 for a 14-bolt is way high ($100-$150 around here), but a Detroit for these are getting close to $400 now so take that into consideration.

LOL....didn't he make any money....while you worked for him!!! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Offer him $550 for the pair...
but $550 is a good price..for a 60
if...it's a non-neck down axle...model..found after 80'.

Yep. At $225 for a set of inner shafts, I'd make sure you're getting the non-neckdown style. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

yeah he said they all have Detroits in them!

Are you sure they have Detroits??? It just seems odd that he would have that many axles sitting around that all happen to have Detroits, especially the front 60's that never had that option available in a factory application (at least that I know of). At least for the rear 14's you could get Detroits in the military trucks and few other rare cases, but they also had 4.56 gears???

Out here in San Diego a D60 alone runs 1600-1800. So stop crying and buy those axles /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif
