while I was at work and left me these goodies...

Bilstein 5125 for the rear and Bilstein 5150's for the front...

Mono-tube nitrogen charged so I can run them "upside down" (with the body at the top) in order to clear my steering linkage...

14" total travel

Those are sweet Avery, but I still think something is wrong with that steering linkage for it to be hitting the shock body. Something is not setup correctly there. Those are going to make it ride like a limo.

I hope so...I've never had shocks on the truck so even though these 8" superlift springs are pretty stiff I'm hoping these help out a little...they sure as heck can't hurt.

Oh and the steering is fine (I've had numerous guys check it out locally)...its just a combination of everything...stock pitman arm to a drop draglink to a raised steering arm along with where the shock tabs on the axle and shock mount on the frame are at it just doesn't quite fit...

But it really doesn't matter now b/c these bad boys can run up, down, or whatever way I want and not only will they not leak they'll perform the same no matter what position they're in.

Oh BTW props to Scott (username machinewave over on pirate4x4...Trail-Gear dealer)...it was like $390 for all four of them (two 5125's and two 5150's) shipped to my door...I ordered them Monday during my lunch break and they were here (wednesday)...thanks!

Well guys I got the rear ones put on and it actually did make a noticable difference in the ride but more than anything in the rebound...I was driving all over curbs and w/e else I could find (it was late :)) and it would bounce once then level out where as the front was bouncing all over the place still...

These were a PITA! I couldn't compress my springs enough to bolt them up with the straps on so I had to cut the straps off...bolt them on then compress the shock (took my dad and I) then bolt the other end on.

The shocks were previously installed with some...lets just say questionable hardware so I figured why waste my time re-doing it down the road. So I took off for the hardware store and got a bunch of grade 8 bolts nuts and a ton of washers...They were closing and the checkout girl practically gave them to me so that was a nice perk for a late night project...

Oh and I also decided to run the rear ones the "right" way (with the body down) because I mounted them the way I had the old ones on but the body was hitting the frame and I didn't want to mess these up so I flipped them around and now everything moves up and down w/o any snags.

We're taking off for Pismo this weekend but when I get back I'll put the front ones on and get some pics...

The reason I ask is because I have FOX shocks on my K-5 very similar size. but , I bottom them out . they have the stiffest valving you can put in. Thinking I might have to buck up to a 2.5" piston. Let us know how your work out after PISMO.

just look for a different shock...they make these in tons of different configurations from like 6"-14.5" total stroke.

Maybe look for a shorter total length so that when you bolt it up you'll be pulling the piston towards the bottom of the body and that way when you compress your suspension you'll have oh say 3/4 or more of the length of the body to travel.
Where as if you are running a longer stroke shock (like these) you'll end up with the piston towards the middle of the body so even though its 50/50 travel it isn't as far...

If I were you, I'd look into changing those Superlift springs out for some softer riding ones. Either BDS or Skyjacker. Both make 8" front and rear springs. Using springs like these will make your shocks perform like they should.

I was thinking of going with some 4" springs and a shackle flip out back along with some 5-6" springs up front and the Black Widow Performance longer shackle hangers and a zero rate...that'd give me 8" out back and a little over 8" up front...

Has anyone heard from or can contact BLACK WIDOW PERFORMANCE? I bought thedisc brake kit for a 12 -bolt 2 months ago I've seen the web site disclaimer, but come on 2 months!! And no word from them in 3 weeks.

Yeah I saw the disclamer on their website too but figured they were getting to the customers that had already ordered stuff...I agree...cancel the payment if you can. That always gets their attention :)

I have a set (6) of Race Runners with 2.5 in pistons. These things are HUGE :eek1: !!

They were off my '99 Ford F-350 PSD.

I have to rebuild them (replace seals, oil, and recharge the nitro gas).

Don't use your shocks, or your springs for that matter, to limit suspension movement.
Compression should be limited by proper length bump stops, drop/sag should be tackled with limiting straps if your in the habit of waving a wheel about in the air. If you don't break your shocks by using them for stops, you'll certainly tear off the rear upper mounts!

Don't you know how to start your own new thread? This quote above has absolutely NOTHING to do with Avery's thread. :surepal: :surepal: :surepal:

I just rolled back into town a little while ago so tomorrow night after work I'm going to get the front shocks put on and get some pics...I was completely blown away at the difference already just by getting the rear ones on so I can hardly wait to get the front ones on...
