the days of nice paint and a straight body are long gone

funny, i used to have the same dent in the same spot with the same story...... then i lost the bed /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hey I like that! Is it aluminium? I might go that route on the '80. Here's a tip if, before you cut the hole make a cardboard or thin metal template 1st. Two reasons; one, if you put the hole in the wrong spot you won't be able to mount the light. Two (& this only if you do the small filler plate like mine), you can flip it to do the other side and they will match. I couldn't make both sides the same on the '73 due to rust damage, though. The side marker light on mine mounts the same as the tail light (rubber gasket) and I made the hole a little big so it pops in instead of breaking.

sapper, congrats on being reconized w/ a combat action ribbon.

My 82's(Emmett) rear passenger side quater looks almost identical to that!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Thats wheelin!! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Why doesn't your wife like the tube idea? I agree with her a little since I like the fullbody look more, but Crawln73's looks pretty good! Just have to decide if you ever wanna put the top back on...

not too sure on what i'm gonna do. my buds say it adds character, my wife says this rockcrawling stuff is destroying the truck, and i'm talking about cutting off the back half off and tubing it out. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif the wife don't like that idea.

i guess for know it'll stay as is until it gets so ugly my wife won't care what i do to it. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Rita didn't like the tube rear idea either until she dragged the driver side across a tree /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

thanks for the tips /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
yeah that's aluminum.. had a scrap piece from a tailgate inner skin that i was working with. but that's as far as i got with it.

emmett-- a cupple of reasons. first, she was thinking that it was going to stay completely open it the back and with our kid back there thought it wasn't a good idea. second, she likes the full blazer look. which i do too, but it's not going to stay pretty to long.

zakk-- i think i'm doing it wrong. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif she needs to drive more and cause some of the damage. /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif
i think that'll work for me too /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Looks like most of it would buff out. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Yep, looks like mine too. I'll try to get a current pic.

Now that we know you are okay...
