I have installed my 63'' springs in my 85 chev shortbox. I used a DIY4X shackle flip, put them on backwards and mounted them as far back on the frame as possible. this is my shackle angle with my box loaded full of parts and camping gear. is this to high of an angle? will my springs still perform good? Im just curious because i dont want to move my front hangars, but if i have to I will

Looks great to me. Your springs are pretty flat, so they won't get much "longer" when they flatten out. You will have tons of drop that way.

how long are those shackes... 6"? if so you could step up tp 7-7.25"ers and it would help the angle out a bit

i personally would move the front hanger forward some. 2 reasons, 1)angle looks a little too steep 2) it will also help to center the tire in the wheel opening a bit more.
that is just my $.02. good job on the build so far :waytogo:

Do you have the drivetrain installed in this truck? (Looks like it might be sitting on the ground underneath) :dunno:

That weight will pull the springs down even more that what you have in the photos. My opinion is that you need a bit more angle on that shackle.

:usaflag:

I would say fully loaded that angle would be ok but I does look like your drivetrain is laying on the ground. (like greg said) You gotta put that weight in before you check your angle!

Hmmmm that looks about right for a loaded rig with springs designed for flex and not to hold weight. I would think with another leaf or two the angle would be perfect. Also putting longer shackles really isnt a fix to a bad angle...

Either add springs OR move the front hanger forward 1-2in.

so your saying I should just buy an add-a-leaf lift kit?
